Dress Code

Shoes and dancewear listed below are a requirement for all dancers.

Students coming to class in streetwear will not be able to participate in class

Tiny Tots (age 3):

KMSD Tiny Tots Tees & tutus are available for purchase.

KMSD Tiny Tots should have their hair up and off the face, pony tails if possible.

Dancewear for girls is bodysuits, footless tights, bare legs, yoga style shorts, tutu skirts and tank tops. Boys can wear black pants or shorts and plain t-shirts.   Bare feet for class.  No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

KMSD Kids (age 4):

KMSD Kids should have their hair up and off the face, pony tails if possible.

Dancewear for girls is bodysuits, footless tights, bare legs, yoga style shorts and tank tops. Boys can wear black pants or shorts and plain t-shirts.   Bare feet for class and performances.  No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

KMSD Kids do not need shoes for class or performances.

Ballet & Pointe:

Hair must be off the face and in a ponytail or bun.

Girls: Pink ballet shoes are required similar to image below

Dancewear: black bodysuit, pink tights, black yoga style dance shorts, tank top.  No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

Boys: black ballet shoes. Dancewear: black pants, shorts, plain T-shirt. No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.
Warm up wear may be worn over dancewear at the beginning of class.

Tap:

   Hair must be up in ponytail or bun and off the face.

Girls: Tap requires caramel coloured shoes.  Boys can wear black tap shoes.

Tap Sparkles, Tap Gems and Tap Juniors wear a “Mary Jane” style Capezio tap shoe as shown in the picture below:

Intermediate and Senior Tap wear Capezio CG09 tap shoe in caramel like the image below:

Dancewear is bodysuit, caramel tights, bare legs, tank top, yoga pants/dance shorts. No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

   Dancewear for boys is black pants or shorts and plain t-shirts

Jazz:

   Hair must be up in ponytail or bun and off the face.

Girls: Jazz requires caramel coloured shoes.  Boys can wear black jazz shoes.

All levels of Jazz wear a Jazz shoe as shown in the image below:

Boys in all levels of Jazz can wear Black Jazz shoes or Caramel.

Dancewear can be:  bodysuit, caramel tights, bare legs, tank top, yoga pants/dance shorts. No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

Highland:

Hair must be up in ponytail or bun and off the face.

Highland dance requires black Ghillies as pictured below (shown with socks):

Dancewear for girls is bodysuit, caramel tights, tank top, yoga pants/dance shorts & knee high socks. No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

 Boys Dancewear is black pants or shorts, plain t-shirts & knee high socks.

Hip Hop:

Hip Hop dancers can wear loose fitting clothing, hair in pony tail.

 Hip Hop Classes will wear a “Converse Style” black and white high top shoe (similar to the photo below).

Students who may experience a growth spurt throughout the year, may begin classes with a ‘non-marking’ clean indoor runner for Hip Hop.   Dancers must have the “Converse style” black and white runner by photo day in May and then the performances in June.

No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.

Musical Theatre:

Musical Theatre dancers must have hair up and off the face in pony tail.

Dancewear can be form fitting tank tops, yoga/dance pants, yoga/dance shorts, bodysuit, caramel tights.

Shoes will be determined when performance piece is chosen.  Jazz shoes or bare feet are fine for class until then.

No graphics on clothing other than KMSD branded clothing.

Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary

 Hair must be up in ponytail or bun and off the face.

Bare feet or “Foot Undies” as pictured below:

Dancewear can be:  bodysuit, caramel tights, bare legs, tank top, yoga pants/dance shorts. No graphics other than KMSD branded clothing.
